About Panna

Panna is also known as the “Land of Diamonds and Tigers” and is one of the most interesting places to visit in Madhya Pradesh, due to its diamond mines, lush forests, grand waterfalls, ancient temples and abundant wildlife. Panna is part of the Bundelkhand region and is home to the Panna Tiger Reserve, which is renowned for its successful conservation efforts and rich biodiversity. Historically, the region boasts a rich history and once was one of the major centres where the Bundela dynasty ruled. Panna is especially renowned for its diamond mines, making it one of the significant diamond-producing areas in India. Its most popular attractions are the breathtaking Raneh Falls, where the Ken River snakes its way through a wonderful canyon filled with colourful granite rocks and beautiful Pandav Falls. Other attractions include Baldeoji Temple, Ken Gharial Sanctuary, Mahamati Prannath Ji Temple and Ajaygarh Fort. With forests, rocks and beautiful river valleys surrounding it, Panna is a great mix of nature, wildlife, spirituality and history. Panna has so much to offer, from adventure exploration of jungle safaris, ancient forts or beautiful waterfalls, to learning about diamond mining.

Best Time to Visit Panna

October to March is the best time to visit Panna, perfect for wildlife safaris, exploring the historical monuments, sightseeing and outdoor activities. The winter season is an ideal time to explore the ancient temples and forts of the region, trek to Raneh Falls and visit the Panna Tiger Reserve. April to June is also a good season for wildlife viewing, with warmer weather that may make it easier to see tigers near water. The main safari areas are largely closed during the breeding season (July - September) for park maintenance, except during the monsoon season when the vegetation is lush, and the surrounding forests are revitalised. Availability and opening days of safaris may change from season to season.
