Varanasi
Varanasi, located on the banks of the sacred Ganges River in Uttar Pradesh, is one of the oldest continuously inhabited cities of India and is a very spiritual place. The city, which is also known as Kashi and Banaras, is of great religious and cultural importance and has been a hub of learning, art, music and spirituality for centuries. The ancient ghats of Varanasi are a popular spot for locals to come together for rituals, prayers, ceremonies, and boat rides, making the area a unique and special place. The beautiful Ganga Aarti at Dashashwamedh Ghat is one of the most memorable experiences in the city. There are also the revered Kashi Vishwanath Temple and historic temples, narrow lanes, markets and traditional neighbourhoods in Varanasi. In addition to its spiritual legacy, the city is also known for its Banarasi silk sarees, handloom textiles, handicrafts, jewellery, classical music and traditional cuisine. Whether you're gazing at the sunrise on a boat ride down the Ganges, viewing the ancient ghats, exploring the bustling lanes of the city, or immersing yourself in its vibrant artistic heritage, Varanasi is a place of extraordinary spiritual, historical, cultural, and everyday experiences.
