Udaipur
Known as the “City of Lakes,” Udaipur is one of the most captivating cities in Rajasthan, famous for its stunning lakes, majestic palaces, historical structures, and romantic ambience. The city was founded by Maharana Udai Singh II in 1559 and was the capital of the Mewar Kingdom, which has a rich royal heritage. Udaipur is nestled in the lap of the Aravalli Hills, and exudes a mesmerizing mix of natural beauty and historic grandeur. The awe-inspiring City Palace that overlooks Lake Pichola is one of the most famous and stunning sights in the city, while Lake Pichola, Fateh Sagar Lake and the scenic ghats are other highlights. Udaipur is also famous for its miniature paintings, colourful markets, traditional handicrafts and Rajasthani cuisine. From visiting the historic palaces, taking a boat ride, watching the sunset over the lakes, to taking a stroll through the old city's narrow streets, Udaipur is a relaxed and memorable place to visit.
