Solan
A beautiful hill city in the state of Himachal Pradesh, Solan offers pine-clad hills, picturesque views, temples, monasteries, and serene environment in addition to a pleasant climate. Solan is famous for its mushroom cultivation, or the “Mushroom City of India”, as well as for its tomato production and agricultural heritage. The city lies on the banks of the Ravi River on the way to Shimla from Chandigarh and is a key junction of the high hills of Himachal Pradesh. The historic and spiritual attractions, like Shoolini Mata Temple, Jatoli Shiv Temple, Mohan Shakti National Heritage Park, and nearby monasteries, enhance the natural beauty of Solan. Solan is also a base for the surrounding mountains, as it has several scenic viewpoints, including Kasauli and Chail. The city provides a calmer experience than some of the more popular Himalayan cities, and offers opportunities for taking strolls in nature, visiting temples, local sightseeing, and immersing yourself in the traditional Himachali culture. With its stunning mountain vistas, calming environments of temples, farmers' markets, and the natural beauty of the landscape, Solan is a breath of fresh air.
