Ranikhet
Ranikhet is a serene hill town located in the Kumaon Himalayas, Uttarakhand, offering dense forests, breathtaking mountain vistas, colonial architecture, and a quiet ambiance. Surrounding the town are thick forests of pine, oak and deodar trees and on clear days, the spectacular view of the Himalayan peaks. The name Ranikhet translates to "Queen's Meadow" and is rich in local legend and history, having been developed as a British-era cantonment area. The area is rich in tourist sites like Jhula Devi Temple, Chaubatia Gardens, Binsar Mahadev Temple and Majhkhali. The apple orchards, traditional Kumaoni culture, handicrafts and peaceful walking trails are also specialities of Ranikhet.
