About Mumbai
Mumbai, Maharashtra, is a boisterous coastal city renowned for its Bollywood film industry, its rich culture and colorful markets, the old-fashioned architecture, and the lively atmosphere. Mumbai is situated on the Arabian Sea, and grew from a cluster of islands to one of the most vital cultural and commercial hubs of India. Traders, migrants and communities from all over the country have long influenced the city's character, and its customs, languages, food and way of life are a reflection of this. The skyline of Mumbai shows the grandeur of the buildings built during the colonial era and the rise of modern skyscrapers; its historic neighbourhoods also bring to light its fascinating past. Gateway of India, Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus, Marine Drive and Elephanta Caves reveal different facets; Mumbai has a rich heritage combined with art, shopping, nightlife, beaches and good food. Historic neighbourhoods, the architecture of Art Deco, museums and galleries, Arabian Sea views, the famous Mumbai street food, and the city's architectural and cultural heritage: all this can be enjoyed by visitors. The city is also known for its strong ties with the Hindi film industry and is a well-known destination for entertainment and popular culture in India.
Mumbai is an exciting blend of heritage, art, shopping, nightlife, beaches and food in modern times. Visitors can explore historic districts, enjoy Art Deco architecture, visit museums and galleries and get a taste of the famous street food of the city and a view of the Arabian Sea. History, architecture, cinema, shopping, cuisine, photography and urban experiences make Mumbai special for travellers who want to know more about the city.
Best Time to Visit Mumbai
October to March is considered the best time to visit Mumbai as the weather is more pleasant for sightseeing, walking along Marine Drive and exploring the historic neighbourhoods of Mumbai. The fall and winter seasons are great for outdoor and major attraction visits.
During the summer months, April to May, the weather is hot and humid, but relatively breezy in coastal areas. June to September is the monsoon season, and the city becomes a breathtaking scene with plentiful rainfall, but it is not easy to enjoy outdoor sightseeing and travel.
