About Digha

Digha, the “Brighton of the East”, is one of the most sought-after seaside holidays in West Bengal where visitors can enjoy pristine beaches, golden sandy shores, picturesque sea views, fresh seafood, seaside markets and a peaceful holiday climate. Digha, on the Bay of Bengal in Purba Medinipur district, is a popular weekend holiday resort for those who want to unwind, relax and enjoy their time on the beach. The place is especially famous for its long shores, mild sea breeze, stunning sunrises and lively atmosphere on the beach. Digha is a delightful blend of nature, culture, seas and family fun. Old Digha Beach, New Digha Beach, Marine Aquarium and Regional Centre, Amarabati Park and Udaypur Beach are all popular beaches. Digha is also famous for the fresh seafood, traditional Bengali food, colourful beach markets and local handicrafts, especially seashells. Beautiful sunrises above the Bay of Bengal, visits to the picturesque fishing villages and beaches and the opportunity to indulge in water sports and try out seafood delicacies are all part of a Digha seaside holiday.

Best Time to Visit Digha

The peak tourist season at Digha is from October to March when the weather is pleasantly warm and perfect for beach activities, sightseeing, visiting nearby coastal destinations, seafood indulgence and enjoying the beautiful seaside ambiance. Overall, the winter season (November-December) is the best time to visit Old Digha Beach and New Digha Beach to relax, take in the scenery, walk and enjoy the area's attractions. October is also a great time to visit as this is when the monsoon season is over, the weather is cooler, and the surrounding coastal scenery is refreshing. Another good period of time to make use of a beach outing and coastal sightseeing is the springtime (February- March). During the monsoon season (June–September), the sea is rough, high tides occasionally occur, and swimming, boating and other water activities may be impacted. It can be very hot and humid in the summer months (April to June), but early mornings and nights are ideal for enjoying the beaches and stunning sea views.
