Braganza House is a very large mansion with a lovely antique furniture collection, exquisite interior architecture and an interesting history, located in Chandor in South Goa. The mansion dates from the 17th century and is one of Goa's best examples of traditional Portuguese-inspired heritage houses. The house is split into two large wings, one of which was the residence of the descendants of the Braganza family. Both parts maintain fine collections of antique furniture, family portraits, books, porcelain and artwork, as well as other historical items. The interiors feature beautifully carved wooden furniture, chandeliers, decorative flooring and large rooms, which reflect the lifestyle of the old aristocratic families of Goa. The historic chapel is one of the features of Braganza House, and the mansion's large antiques collection provides a taste of colonial times in the area. The house is also imbued with Goa's social, political and cultural past.

Best Time to Visit Braganza House

The best time to visit Braganza House is from November to February, when the weather is mild enough to enjoy exploring the neighbourhood of Chandor and its other heritage sites. In the cooler months, visitors can easily enjoy a tour of the mansion and South Goa.
The climate is warm and humid from March to May, but is extremely rainy and green in the surrounding countryside during the monsoon season from June to September. The mansion is open year-round, and there are opportunities for outdoor adventures around Chandor that are more pleasant in the drier months.
