Ayodhya
Located on the banks of the holy Sarayu River in Uttar Pradesh, Ayodhya is considered one of the holiest places to visit in India and the birthplace of Lord Rama. It is also the hub of religious and cultural practices of the Hindus and is connected with the Ramayana and the kingdom of Kosala. Over the past few years, Ayodhya has seen massive growth and development, with the addition of new pilgrimage facilities, the restoration of old heritage sites, the enhancement of the riverfront and the development of new visitor facilities. The city boasts significant religious sites including Shri Ram Janmabhoomi Mandir, Hanuman Garhi, Kanak Bhawan and the ancient ghats on Sarayu. The city is also famous for its colorful festivals, especially the Diwali festival, which is marked by thousands of lamps lit along the riverbanks and the people of Ayodhya enjoying the festivities. In addition to its temples, Ayodhya has a variety of other attractions, including spiritual traditions, aarti ceremonies, local markets, and the cultural heritage of Awadh. There's so much to experience in Ayodhya that you can see, touch, smell, taste, and hear, from visiting sacred temples and seeing the evening Sarayu Aarti, to exploring historic sites and enjoying local cuisine and culture.
