International Yoga Festival, Rishikesh
You have a private side to yoga. Spa & Wellness Tour India with Namaskar India Tour. There is a private side to yoga in the sense that your breath rises in your lungs or the gentle removal of thought from a restless mind. It also has a social side, that of learning, helping, allowing the principles of yoga to penetrate your relationships. Experience a little more of this society of practitioners by starting with the International Yoga Festival and slipping into the melting pot of its inhabitants.
Whoever practises it abroad dreams of coming to India and meeting renowned yogacharyas to get to know the country that gave birth and nourished him and to be among others to share his beliefs and practice the lifestyle he has chosen. Although this does not apply to Indians in general, it is certainly the case for the hundreds of people who come every year from 30 countries around the world to visit the sacred city of Rishikesh on the occasion of this festival.
This festival, organised by the Parmarth Niketan Ashram, features more than 60 hours of yoga during the primary week in February. As well as international styles, traditional styles such as Kundalini Yoga, Power Vinyasa Yoga, Iyengar Yoga and Kriya Yoga are practised. There are dozens of yogacharyas giving classes throughout the day. They have a 4 o’clock call in the morning and an Aarti and cultural programmes in the evening. A simple vegetarian diet complements the basic facilities of the boarding school. They create an immersive environment where you will forget your worries about the world and plan to explore body and soul.
