Discovering Delhi – The Many Faces of India. Delhi is India’s most populous and cosmopolitan city, a kaleidoscope of cultures, colors, and contrasts. Originally composed of seven ancient cities, today’s Delhi is a fusion of these historic settlements—a reflection of the incredible diversity of this country. We begin our day with a visit to the impressive Jama Masjid, the grand mosque located in the heart of Old Delhi. Afterwards, we explore the lively alleys of the old city on a cycle rickshaw. Bustling bazaars, vibrant colors, a symphony of sounds, and the fragrance of spices fill the air—our first true taste of India. We dive into the chaotic charm of Chandni Chowk, the pulsing heart of Old Delhi. Here, everything comes together: crowded shops, street vendors, sacred cows, monkeys, food stalls, tangled electric wires, and an endless stream of people—an explosion of life beyond imagination. On our way back, we drive past the Red Fort (exterior view), an iconic monument built by Emperor Shah Jahan. In the afternoon, we enjoy a panoramic tour of Lutyens’ Delhi, the British-built center of the capital, with its wide tree-lined avenues, stately government buildings, the Parliament House, diplomatic enclaves, and the imposing India Gate. We conclude the day with a visit to Gurudwara Bangla Sahib, Delhi’s most prominent Sikh temple, offering us a first, intimate glimpse into Indian spirituality. Overnight stay at the hotel.
