It covers an area of 521 km2 and, in conjunction to the forest areas of the Sonanadi Wildlife Reserve and Wildlife Sanctuary, constitutes the Corbett Tiger Reserve in the Uttarakhand region. Moist and dry habitats in the lowland and the mountainous region, as well as the rugged grasslands and delicate meadows, and hence the forests, also harbour numerous flora and fauna that make up the belt of the Himalayan ecosystem.

Indeed, Corbett is home to the famous Royal Bengal Tiger and several Asian elephants. It is also famous for its rich floral diversity, encompassing more than 500 diverse plant species, as witnessed by the thick groves of Sal, Sissoo and Khair. In addition, you will find a diversity of flowers such as large red flowers, forest flame, bright orange flowers, madaar or Indian coral, scarlet red flowers and amaltas found in this park.

It is located in the Ramnagar district of Nainital in Nainital, Uttarakhand.

Getting to Corbett Park

It is well connected to different parts of North India, particularly Delhi, by rail and road. It is the seat of the Corbett Park in the town of Ramnagar. Regular night trains run from Delhi to Ramnagar. Also, there are trains from Lucknow, Allahabad, Kanpur and Varanasi to Ramnagar. An important way to visit the park is to hire a taxi after reaching Ramnagar. There are also good road and rail links to Dehradun and Haridwar.

The ideal time to get to the park is from mid-November to mid-June.

Opening and closing times of the park and the safari

A number of safari areas are managed by the forest department of Corbett National Parks. A jeep safari area covering Bijrani operates from 15 October to 30 June, Jhirna from 15 October to 14 October and Durgadevi from 15 November to 30 June. Wildlife Tours India with Namaskar India Tour. Important information to visitors

A number of safety rules and regulations remain to be maintained within Corbett Park. The foregoing rules and regulations stipulate that vehicles are to travel slowly in the park without honking their horns. No vehicle exits are to be allowed except in certain designated areas. Music must not be played inside the park. We recommend that you keep a distance from wild animals. You are allowed to take photographs inside the park without using the flash. Do not dispose of waste inside the park. There is a strict ban on smoking inside the park.
