Pench National Park

In 1977 Pench Park has declared a sanctuary and in 1983 it was granted a park license. The Pench Park was recognized as the Pench Tiger Reserve in 1992.

It covers an area of 758 km2 and thus the core area covers 299 km2, including the Pench Indira Priyadarshini Park and the Mowgli Pench Sanctuary. A buffer zone of the remaining 464 km2 of Pench Park is the buffer zone. Elevation of this zone is 580-675 Mt. above sea level and annual rainfall is 1397 mm. The schedules for winter safaris are as follows:

in the morning from 7:30 am to 10:30 am and the evening safari is from 3 pm to 5:30 pm.

The morning safari is from 6:30 am to 9:30 am and the evening safari is from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm.

Some attractive places are close to Pench Park. One such attraction is the Rookhad Wildlife Sanctuary which is located as in the adjacent area. Bison are legendary at the Rookhad Sanctuary. It is easiest to get there from February to June.

The station of Panchmari Hill is another beautiful attraction which is located in the Satpura mountain range which surrounds the district of Hoshangabad in Madhya Pradesh and is 200 km away from Pench Park. Legendary for some beautiful scenery and waterfalls is the Panchmari Hill resort.

The historical town of Mandla, about 200 km from the park, is one of the main tourist attractions in the surrounding area, a number of which include the Garha fort at Killa Ghat.
