Mostly known for its royal Bengal tigers, the Bandhavgarh Tiger Reserve is a famous tiger reserve. These are a typical fauna of central India with a habitat supporting 22 species of mammals. Early in the morning after breakfast, head to Kanha National Park. It will take about 6 hours by road to reach Kipling country, which is an impressive nature reserve in India. It lies in two main valleys, Halon in the east and Banjar in the west. Surrounded by tufts of the forest, the “good” grasslands are home to a large number of herbivores. There are large plateaus in the hills (locally called “Dadars”) and are therefore characterised by extensive meadows and few trees.
