Day 1 Culcutta
Once you arrive at Kolkata airport, you will get an assisted & transfer to hotel. Later evening visit the new market. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 2 Culcutta – Siliguri (By Train)
Early in the morning, visit the big fish market in Calcutta. After breakfast, you will discover the place of life of Mother Theresa, (moment of meditation possible), then meet the children of the orphanage. After lunch, you will go for a walk in the botanical garden. The afternoon will continue with the visit of the Victoria Memorial (outer view) as well as St Paul's Cathedral, a remnant of the British Empire. Stay overnight in Train.
Day 3 Siliguri – Bungkulung (25km/56m)
In the morning after having breakfast, you will take the road to the village of Bungkulung, check in with your hosts and visit the village. After lunch, visit the school and the pineapple farm, a seasonal activity with the villagers. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 4 Bungkulung – Darjeeling (58km/2h30)
In the morning after having breakfast, departure for a trek through the tea gardens to Kurseong Village, where you will take the local train to Darjeeling. Arrival in Darjeeling late afternoon. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 5 Darjeeling
Early in the morning, you will be able to admire the sunrise on the Kanchendzonga range, sacred mountain of the Indian Himalayas. Breakfast in one of the oldest tea rooms in Darjeeling. You will then visit the Darjeeling Market and a tea factory as well as the Mountaineering Museum and the Tibetan Refugee Camp. Late afternoon free, Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 6 Darjeeling - Kewzing (90km/4h25)
In the morning after having breakfast, you will take the road to the state of Sikkim through forests and tea gardens. Lunch in Jorethang. Arrival in Yuksam and transfer to host family. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 7 to Day 9 Kewzing (homestay & rural life)
For 3 days, you will stay at homestay and discover the Buthia culture by participating in daily activities: * Hiking in the forest to fetch culinary or medicinal plants * Traditional ethnic cuisine * Depending on the season, participation in field work and various daily activities. * Participation in cultural ceremonies.
Day 10 Kewzing – Gangtok (87km/3h27)
In the morning after having breakfast, transfer to Rumtek, Gangtok. En route, you will visit Tashiding Monastery, one of the oldest monasteries in the state. Lunch in Rabongla. Next arrival time in Gangtok, visit the pedestrian zone. Stay overnight at hotel.
Day 11 Gangtok – Bagdogra (133km/4h46) – Delhi (depart)
In the morning after having breakfast, you will visit Rumtek Monastery. At appropriate time transfer to Bagdogra Airport to connect flight for Delhi onward journey.
