Take in the sights of Mumbai from the famous Gateway of India and popular Marine Drive promenade, to the beautiful terraces of the Hanging Gardens and the bustling Crawford Market place on an afternoon tour of the city.
Day 01 Mumbai
Start the day at the Gateway of India, one of Mumbai’s most well known landmarks, set on the waterfront of the city harbor. Dating back to the early 20th century this monumental structure was built to commemorate King George V and Queen Mary during the British Raj, and was later used as an entry point for visitors arriving to the city by sea. From here head to the nearby Chowpatty Beach, one of the most popular public beaches in the city, for a stroll along the Marine Drive promenade.Next explore the Mani Bhavan museum, which houses a small yet poignant collection of photographs, dioramas and letters documenting the life of Mahatma Gandhi. Then call at the Rajabai Clock Tower located within the Fort campus of the University of Mumbai, followed by a visit to the beautiful exterior of the 19th century Jain Temple. Continue on to the twisted lanes of the Dhobitalao market place in Old Mumbai, and the intriguing Prince of Wales Museum with a collection of rare and ancient exhibits depicting Indian history. End the afternoon by soaking up the beauty of the flourishing terraced Hanging Gardens, followed by a visit to the thriving Crawford Market, where inside its medieval exterior you will find an assortment of everyday goods and souvenir items.
